A National Democratic Congress flagbearer aspirant, Alban Bagbin, has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo over what he believes is a demonstration of ineffective leadership in governance.
Bagbin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo constituency said he is surprised at the administrative style of Akufo-Addo particularly his appointment of 110 ministers and deputy ministers, despite criticizing the previous government heavily for appointing 84 ministers and deputy ministers.
“I don’t think that this is the Nana Addo I knew that he could ever think of appointing 110 ministers and deputy ministers after criticizing 84 ministers and deputy ministers that it was on the high side,” he said.

Providing his assessment of President Akufo-Addo’s performance as president over the past 18 months, Bagbin, who serves as the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament said Akufo-Addo has lost grip over his appointees.
But I will say again, I think he has been torpedoed and pushed to do that and that it looks like he is losing grips over his people. He is not in firm control actually. I don’t think he is in firm control,” he said.
Alban Bagbin however said Akufo-Addo should be given more time to ‘redeem himself’

He said Akufo-Addo had failed to deliver on his campaign promises, describing government’s flagship programme, Free Senior High School (SHS) as a disaster.
“In spite of the mistakes that his government is making and sometimes the surprises that he is giving to Ghanaians because they are not practicing what they preach, we should give him time,” he said.
