Nollywood actor John Paul Obumneme Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, has been laid to rest in his hometown, on May 17th, 2023.
The 43-year-old actor died alongside four others on April 10 when their boat capsized in the River Niger while returning from a movie shoot.

The film star was earlier reported to have survived the accident when doctors attempted to resuscitate him in a hospital.
“It’s so so sad that our joy was short lived. Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail. We finally lost him,” Emeka Rollas Ejezie, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), posted on Facebook.
Following his death, his family released his funeral arrangements, revealing that the actor would be laid to rest on the 17th of May.

In an update to it, the actor’s burial ceremony is currently ongoing in his hometown of Ukehe, in Enugu State.
Photos and videos from the funeral are fast making rounds on the internet, and his wife, who was holding their last child, could be seen in tears.
It is crucial to know that a final thanksgiving mass will be held on Sunday, May 19 at St. Peter’s Parish Ukche Nsukkaa, Igboetiti LGA, Enugu.
