Why is ‘Tekashi 6ix9ine is gay’ trending?
‘6ix9ine is gay’ rumor stems from a Tweet with a false quote
The rumor ‘6ix9ine is gay’ traces back to one particular Tweet, consisting of a picture of the rapper and another man.
The musician is seen planting a kiss on the unidentified person’s cheek and it only seems cordial.
However, it’s the accompanying fabricated quote that’s sending out the wrong message, also claiming it was shared by the rapper himself.
The caption reads: “6ix9ine, revealed in a recent interview that he has been obsessed with ‘to the boy who saved my life’ by Noah Vela.”
“I’m happy to announce that I’m coming out as gay and have a boyfriend. Noah’s song really touched my soul and made me feel okay to come out of the closet.”
There is no proof that 6ix9ine shared the above statement in any of his interviews and the same account has shared several baseless rumors about other celebrities including Zendaya and Tom Holland, such as the one that claims the couple is “taking a break”.

Leaked NSFW tape featuring rapper’s lookalike fuels the rumor
As if the picture of the rapper with another man wasn’t enough, an NSFW tape allegedly featuring 6ix9ine’s lookalike, has left fans speechless.
The supposed “leaked” tape managed to find its way onto Twitter and those who watched it were convinced that the person in it was 6ix9ine.
Like 6ix9ine, a number of celebrities have fallen prey to speculations surrounding videos in which the person’s identity is mistaken.
So, it’s safe to say, neither has 6ix9ine “come out of the closet” or participated in the taping of the NSFW content as hundreds and thousands of fans have assumed.

Moreover, the rapper couldn’t be bothered by the latest rumor as he’s addressed it previously.
One of his posts on Instagram from 2017 which is still found on his account, was captioned “People think I’m gay.. I think I’m cool. I can count to 10 with my eyes closed.”
Fans defend the musician
Well-informed fans weren’t willing to entertain baseless rumors about 6ix9ine and they used the opportunity to call out trolls for painting a wrong picture of him, based on unproven claims.
Shutting down the infamous opinion that a person is gay for being friendly with someone of the same gender, one fan wrote: “So apparently 6ix9ine is gay because he was kissing a dude on the cheek, I guess me and all the homies are gay then”
Another Tweeted: “The 6ix9ine being gay rumor comes from an account that has less than 1000 followers. You can’t be serious.”
“What is wring with you all? That is not 6ix9ine in teh tape, but a lookalike. Let the man be,” wrote one.
