Who was John Regan?
John Regan was an American musician, songwriter, producer, and bassist. Born in 1979, Regan was best known for his work as a former member of Frehleys’ Comet and Kiss, and for playing with Peter Frampton.
He also collaborated with other significant artists like John Waite, the Rolling Stones, Stephen Stills, Dave Edmunds, Robin Trower, Scandal, Billy Idol, David Bowie, and David Lee Roth. Regan lived in Wappingers Falls, New York.
His career peaked when he performed with Tod Howarth, drummer Anton Fig of “Late Show with David Letterman” fame, and original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley in the band Frehley’s Comet. He met Frehley in the mid-1980s at a friend’s recording studio.

How did John Regan die?
Renowned bassist and musician John Regan died on Friday, April 7, 2023. He was 71 years old at the time of his death. His death came as a shock to many as the musician appeared young despite his old age.
The saddening news of John Regan’s death was announced by his wife, Cathy Merring-Regan, on Facebook.
“It is with the greatest sorrow and sadness that I let you all know John passed away this afternoon. So many people have posted messages of love and condolences on his phone. I am trying to figure out how to post on any of his fb pages. I appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers,” Cathay wrote.
“One of his favorite quotes was “All that you can take with you is that which you’ve given away”. From reading your messages, I know he gave much away and so much love was sent to him. He passed suddenly, but that was his wish,” she added.
She concluded with: “I had heard him over the past few weeks having lengthy conversations with many of you and you brought such joy to him. Thank you all for your heartfelt messages.”
