Zion Lateef Williamson born July 6, 2000, is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
He is the power forward player. Zion Williamson was drafted 1st overall by the Pelicans in his 2019 NBA Draft after spending his year with the Blue Devils.

He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020. In 2021, he was selected for the All-Star Game making him the fourth youngest NBA player.

Zion Williamson was born in Salisbury, North Carolina. In addition to basketball, Williamson played the quarterback position in soccer and football. At age 5, he wanted to be a college basketball star. Williamson started his exercise when he was 9 years old, waking up at 5 am every morning.
He played in youth leagues with his mother, Sharonda Sampson’s support as his coach, and played for the Sumter Falcons on the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) circuit, playing against opponents four years older than him. Williamson later began working with his stepfather, former college basketball player Lee Anderson, to hone his skills as a point guard.
He joined the basketball team at Johnakine Middle School in Marion, South Carolina, where he was again coached by his mother and averaged 20 points per game. In middle school, Williamson was a point guard at him and in two years he lost only three games. In 2013, he led Johnakine to an 8-1 record and conference title.
Williamson returned to Spartanburg Day School, and consensus recognized him as a five-star recruit, ranking him among the top five players in his class for 2018. He led the team to its third straight state championship and during his season as a senior in South Carolina, he earned Mr. Basketball certification. Williamson also graduated from high school with McDonald’s All-American, Mr. Basketball USA runner-up, and USA Today’s All-USA First Team honors.
