A shooter opened fire, killing Tαkeoff and injuring two others who were taken to hospital.
Along with the news of Tykov’s tragic death, clear video footage from the scene is circulating on Twitter.
The clip shows a man lying on the ground wearing clothes similar to those worn by rapper Migos in the hours before his death.

In response to the footage, fans urged Twitter to remove it out of respect for Tαkeoff’s loved ones.
Author and rapper Cadence Weapon questioned if sites like TMZ would have run videos of Takeoff’s body if he wasn’t a rapper.
TMZ posted Takeoff’s dead body when reporting his murder. Would they do the same for a white country artist? Or would they be more respectful?
Where does the impulse to film and post a lifeless dead Black body come from? Maybe this is why Black death has become so normalized

Civil rights lawyer Sherrilyn Ifill called TMZ a “disgrace.” She added, “No human being or their family deserves to have published the kind of crime scene photos that I glimpsed.”
I do not know the music of #TakeOff, but I am so sad to see the loss of yet another young artist who meant so much to many in our community. What I do know is that no human being or their family deserves to have published the kind of crime scene photos I glimpsed. A disgrace TMZ.

Some fans hit back at people sharing the videos on their Twitter timelines — especially given that videos autoplay on the platform.
Even if you use trigger warnings, be mindful sharing video of Takeoff's murder.
Im guilty of forgetting this too sometimes but some people arent aware that having Autoplay on means theyre going to be seeing graphic video even as they try to scroll away.

Information about how to disable the autoplay setting on videos began to circulate through the platform as well.
Now is a good time to remind folks to go in your settings on here and disable auto play on videos. Unfortunately, people are going to share the video. It might come across your tl and disabling auto play is your only defense. Protect your mental health. #riptakeoff #Hearingquavo pic.twitter.com/Zd53QyPhhj
