Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o was left mouth agape after A-List Hollywood actor Will Smith smacked comedian Chris Rock during the Oscar awards.
Will Smith stunned the star-studded audience — and everyone watching at home — when he took to the stage and smacked Chris Rock across the face after the comedian made a “joke” about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday, March 27.
“Jada, I love you,” the comedian said from the stage, quipping, “G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,” referring to the actress’ buzzed head, as G.I. Jane star Demi Moore wore a similar style. (Pinkett Smith, 50, has often been open about losing her hair due to alopecia.)

As the camera cut to the Smiths, the King Richard star, 53 — who later won the Oscar for best actor — seemed to smile at Rock’s joke, while Pinkett Smith intensely rolled her eyes.
Though it initially seemed that Smith was OK with the quip, he quickly walked onstage and slapped the Longest Yard actor, 57, across the face.
“Oh, wow! Wow! Will Smith just smacked the sht out of me,” Rock said as the audience laughed, thinking it was a skit. Adding: “Wow, dude. It was a ‘G.I. Jane’s joke.”
Will was however not ready to take any of Rock’s sentiment and started yelling vulgar language at him.

“Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth,” Smith said in a repeated mode as he exchanged with Rock.
Smith’s action and words, however, did stun everyone in the audience and one person whose reaction caught the eye of everyone who watched the awkward moment that was captioned on live TV was Lupita Nyong’o who was seated right next to Smith.
As Smith continued to insult Rock, Lupita would be seen completely trying to avoid having eye contact with him as she stared towards the main pavilion.
The actress could be seen visibly confused at what was happening as some audience members were left wondering if it had been part of some pre-arranged skit.
